Sigefride Bruna Hautman’s monograph
Poetry distilled into images: that is an apt description of Sigefride Bruna Hautman’s oeuvre. This Antwerp artist’s first retrospective ran at M until the end of August. Together with Lenz Press, we are publishing the first monograph on the rich body of work she has been developing since the 1980s. Her sculptures, installations, collages and videos are brought together here for the first time, supported by archival material, including from her personal photo collection.
Available at Barbóék in M (€ 32).

Grace Schwindt documentary
In 2023, Grace Schwindt was an artist-in-residence at our depot. Fascinated by the damaged historical sculptures and by the care our staff devote to them, she translated that experience into a series of watercolours, paintings and sculptures. Currently on view in the exhibition ‘Grace Schwindt. A History of Touch’. Want to know more? Watch ‘To Create Closeness’, a short documentary that follows Schwindt on her journey from the depot to the exhibition.
Cera Collection acquisitions
Since 2011, M has held Cera’s collection of contemporary art on long-term loan. The collection focuses on emerging and underexposed Belgian artists, with M providing acquisitions advice. It now comprises around 600 works, and nine pieces by five artists were added in 2024. These include ‘Chain Reaction of the Gym Rats’ (2024) by painter Lisa Vlaemminck and the textile wall sculpture ‘O8B20’ by Fran Van Coppenolle.

Take note!
Perhaps you noticed them, or maybe they even tempted you to visit M: the banners for ‘Art that Moves’ and Sigefride Bruna Hautman’s exhibition that hung in Bondgenotenlaan in early 2025. We’ve since removed them, but they are being given a second life: Redopapers, a specialist company, has recycled them into notebooks that are as attractive as they are eco-friendly.
Available for purchase at Barbóék in M.

Make-it-together space: the sequel
In issue eleven of the magazine, you could read about the make-it-together space at M: a space where families, schools, guided groups, and individual visitors could explore the ‘Collection of M’ in a playful, hands-on way. The room is now closed, but don’t worry – it will return in a refreshed version from 2 April. Visitors will be able to engage with a new series of stimulating statements about art. This project is realized with the support of Cera.

M in the children’s hospital
In the Muse Space, a bright and spacious art room in the children’s hospital at UZ Leuven, sick children can relax and express themselves creatively. On 18 and 25 November, we’re organizing a workshop there based on Alicja Kwade’s exhibition at M.
