Magazine issue eleven

Saturday 8 March: International Women’s Day. A day to recognize and remember women’s emancipation and celebrate their achievements – whether these are national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.

This edition pays tribute to women, but it also highlights the position that has been afforded them, and continues to be afforded, in society, in history, and in art. We hope to inspire and acknowledge women in all their roles, desires, and expressions. Start with the cover by Sigefride Bruna Hautman and leaf through the images, words, illustrations and gazes of a plethora of women.

In February, M opened two solo exhibitions of exceptional female artists who reflect on their role, physicality and position in society: Grace Schwindt with ‘A History of Touch’ and Sigefride Bruna Hautman with her distinctively poetic visual work. Now more than ever: here’s to (even more) women in art.
