Open up the wings!
The ‘Calvary Triptych’ by the 16th-century painter Michiel Coxie is one of the masterpieces of the M-Collection. Historically, triptychs like this were only displayed in their fully opened state during feast days. At M, we adopt a similar practice, typically showing the work in its closed form, revealing only the reverse sides of the panels. However, occasionally, we throw open the wings, allowing visitors to admire this Flemish Renaissance masterpiece in all its glory. In 2025 we will be doing this around Easter (3 to 22 April), Ascension Day (29 May to 17 June), M’s anniversary (18 September to 7 October) and during the end-of-year period (18 December to 6 January).

Peter Morrens Monograph
Peter Morrens’ solo exhibition at M, ‘OEEEEEEUUUUVVRE’, closes on 2 March. But for anyone who simply can’t get enough of his work, Oktober Publications and M are publishing an eponymous monograph (256 pages, designed by Atelier Sven Beirnaert). This richly illustrated book brings together existing and new work, installation views and archive material. In it, you can read about a conversation between curator Eva Wittocx and the artist, an essay by Ronald Van de Sompel and poems by Lieke Marsman and Hans Magnus Enzensberger.

From coal to jet
Eagle-eyed readers of the magazine may have noticed that the spine of each edition is a slightly different shade of black. This is no accident: for every artist, we find an appropriate colour that matches the campaign image. We also use this black for all the printed materials for the exhibition at M.
